High Atlas to the Sahara: The Ultimate Moroccan Odyssey
The Ultimate 6-Day Moroccan Adventure
This Wild Nomadic Ride signature tour is undoubtedly our most comprehensive circuit, designed to reveal every face of Morocco. From the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas (reaching over 4,000m) to the golden vastness of the Sahara, this is the ultimate off-road motorcycle adventure.
Experience deep valleys, mountain passes at 3,000m, the dramatic Dades Gorges, and the volcanic landscapes of Djebel Saghro. Conquer the desert plains of Kem Kem, sleep at the foot of the Erg Lihoudi dunes, and explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou.
THE ITINERARY
Day 1: Demnate – Boumalne Dades
- Distance: 184 km | Duration: 8h (including 3h of off-road tracks)
Your Wild Nomadic Ride adventure begins on ancient trails that wind through the mountains. As we cross two high-altitude passes, the lush green valleys of the north give way to the mineral beauty of the south. This is your introduction to Moroccan hospitality and the diverse colors of the Atlas. We finish the day descending through ochre canyons to our lodge at the gates of the Dades Gorges.
Day 2: Boumalne – Tazzarine
- Distance: 221 km | Duration: 7h (including 5.5h of off-road tracks)
We start with an optional (but essential) loop through the Dades Gorges, the “Valley of 1000 Kasbahs.” Then, we head into the lunar landscapes of Djebel Saghro. At 2,712m, this volcanic massif offers immense spaces, black rock canyons, and isolated Berber palm groves. We end the day at Camp Serdrar, the gateway to the Sahara.
Day 3: Tazzarine – Erg Lihoudi (The Sahara)
- Distance: 255 km | Duration: 8h (including 6h of off-road tracks)
Today, we enter the desert. You will navigate the vast “Hamada” (rocky plateau)—a playground for fast, playful riding behind your Wild Nomadic Ride guide. We cross the Kem Kem region, where the horizon feels infinite. After a traditional kefta tagine, we hit the linear sandy tracks reminiscent of the legendary Paris-Dakar rally. We finish the day by camping under the stars in a comfortable desert bivouac at the Erg Lihoudi dunes.
Day 4: Erg Lihoudi – Foum Zguid
- Distance: 253 km | Duration: 7h (including 4h of off-road tracks)
Riding along the Djebel Bani, we witness the resilience of desert life before tackling a more technical mountain stage. We pass through the striking green and red landscapes of the Bleida copper mine. The afternoon is a roller-coaster ride through the Djebel Lahmar, cutting through mountain passes to reach the vast plains leading into Foum Zguid.
Day 5: Foum Zguid – Ouarzazate
- Distance: 165 km | Duration: 6h (including 4h of off-road tracks)
We head north through stunning geological folds on winding roads toward Tazenakht, famous for its Berber carpets. The afternoon track through the Anti-Atlas is wild and technical—pure adrenaline for any rider. We conclude the day at an eco-lodge on the shores of the Ouarzazate lake for a well-deserved refreshing swim.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Demnate
- Distance: 238 km | Duration: 6h (including 1h of off-road tracks)
The grand finale! We visit the world-famous Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO) before riding through the Ounila Valley. The colors here are breathtaking: iron reds, copper greens, and golden ochres. We climb the iconic Tizi N’Tichka pass before diving into the lush, terraced gardens of the Tessaout Valley. A final stop at Lake Ait Adel marks the end of an epic journey with Wild Nomadic Ride.
